The recommended method is to select the distribution transformer capacity based on the expected maximum load Smax and typical daily load curve, and in accordance with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Standard (1972) Oil-immersed Transformer and Load Guidelines. This standard has been adopted by China. The advantage of this method is that it takes into account the normal overload capacity of the transformer and makes full use of the transformer setting capacity without shortening the life of the transformer.
